📜 EthnoHubNZ — Forum Rules
Welcome to EthnoHubNZ. This is a community for ethnobotany — people, plants, and culture. Keep it respectful, accurate, and safe. Last updated: 9 Aug 2026. Rules are enforced by moderators/admins. Breaking them may lead to warnings, post removal, or bans (audited).

1 — Be respectful

  • No hate speech, harassment, slurs, or personal attacks. Critique ideas, not people.
  • No doxxing or sharing private info without consent.
  • English is preferred so everyone can follow along; vernacular names are welcome with a scientific name if possible.

2 — Identification & accuracy

  • For ID requests, include: clear photos (whole plant + close-up), location (region), habitat, and season. Don't rely on a single photo.
  • Do not treat forum IDs as medical advice. Never ingest a plant based solely on a forum ID. Confirm with an expert/herbarium.
  • Cite sources for medicinal/traditional claims where possible.

3 — Safety (medicinal plants)

  • No instructions that encourage unsafe use, dosing for others, or sourcing restricted/poisonous material.
  • Distinguish personal experience from general advice. Use [quote] for others' words.
  • If in doubt, say so — guessing can be dangerous.

4 — Conservation & legality

  • Respect protected species, private land, and local regulations (DOC, council, iwi permissions).
  • Advocate sustainable harvesting — take only what you need, leave populations viable.
  • No trading of protected/illegal material. Marketplace is for legal, ethical exchange only.

5 — Posts, images & spam

  • One topic per question — use the correct forum. No duplicate cross-posting.
  • Images/GIFs: max 8MB upload, auto-compressed over 1MB. Keep them on-topic. No shock/NSFW.
  • BBCode allowed: [b] [i] [u] [url] [img] [quote] [code]. No external scripts/embeds.
  • Signatures max 300 chars, shown under your posts. Keep them short.
  • No spam, affiliate links, or self-promotion without context.

6 — Privacy & moderation

  • Private messages are private — don't publish them without permission.
  • Moderators may edit, move, lock, or remove content. Admin actions are logged (see Admin panel).
  • Appeals: contact an admin via PM. Bans require reason and audit entry.
